At JW Accounting + Tax, we offer our tax experience and knowledge to small businesses and individuals in New Orleans, Metairie, and Kenner. We also serve West Bank communities including Algiers and Gretna. Our clients’ tax situations are diverse, but our goal is always the same—to maximize their tax benefits and help them save money.

We’re loyal to our clients, and they are loyal to us as well. Unlike at national tax preparation chains, which have high turnover, we get to know our customers and their financial circumstances. The personal touch makes a difference in helping us identify deductions and allows us to be proactive in offering our ideas and insights.

 JAY R. WEST, CPA (Deceased April 5, 2017)

After studying at Drexel University from 1965 through 1971, including 4 co-operative jobs at the Saturday Evening Post, the IRS, a CPA firm, and a bank, a BS in Accounting and Finance was awarded to me. Positions after graduation included Borg Warner, MWA Inc., Canal Barge, LaPorte, Romig and Hand CPA’s and Medical Equipment Co.

In 1981, I started my own CPA firm and maintained it until selling the business in 2001. After that worked as a controller for Wagner Meats until 2004 when I re-established my own CPA firm.

I have been doing tax work for people since 1968 – 45 years.

In working for people in the tax area, I noticed that the opportunity for helping them with financial planning was right at my fingertips, and I could help clients to save tax dollars and invest the difference in retirement accounts. The thrust of my work became an effort to do this for every one I did a tax return for each year.”

CRYSTAL JOHNSON, EA

Crystal was graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and a Master of Science Degree in Accounting – Taxation from the University of New Orleans. Six years of comprehensive education and ten plus years of experience in the tax and accounting professions, make Crystal well equipped to solve complex audit and taxation issues and help you plan your financial future. As a happily married mother of two, she understands how important planning for the future can be.
